What if you Can?

I have searched and searched for a clip of a video that would be perfect- I knew what clip I wanted but I just could NOT find it anywhere.  It's from Biggest Loser Season 9 with "contestants" who were from Knoxville- Ashley and Sherry Johnston.  In it they are having a conversation with the camera and Ashley says something to the effect of but what if I can't do it and Sherry looks at her and says, "But what if you can?".  They just wrapped up season 13 and I still remember that part- I think because it resonated with me and still continues to do so.  So often it's easy to give up and quit- especially with lack of results but I have come to realize that one bad food choice, one day of no exercise, one time of not "emptying my tank" (that's in reference to this blog post from Olivia Ward) does NOT define me- in fact, it should provide me the motivation to do better the next time.  So, since I have started this journey I have done 3 things- I have started back up to my couchto5k program, I have gone back to Zumba, and I have gone to spin class (and have really enjoyed it).  My goal is to continue with it and when I think that "I can't do this" to remember the response- BUT, what if you can!?

Long Journey but...

I am picking this back up again.  I have known for a while that something needed to change but have put it off (like always) but then I saw a picture from a hike I took last Saturday.  It forced reality on me.  This was the day before my 37th birthday, June 2, 2012.  And it WILL be the last day I look like this.  I am posting the picture because I need to go on record as changing my ways.  It's time to do what needs to be done.

So, as you can see- these pictures have shown me just how bad I let it get.  You know how you look in the mirror and you think oh, that's not so bad but then I see a picture of myself and know.  So, I am embarking on a new journey.  One that I know will bring me tears of pain and joy, and yet one that I know that I need to travel upon.  I don't know where it will take me or what exactly I will do.  I do know one place it's taking me- in October- to Nashville I'm participating in The Color Run

I am really excited about it and think it's a good first step.  Who knows where this will take me?

Time to go!

It's Been a LONG time!

WOW- it's been a super long time- I need to get this up and going again- I need the accountability that even though more than likely there is noone out there reading this- I need the incentive just in case :) So, here we go- I have hired a trainer who will spend 4 weeks (or more if I choose) working to help me make better choices. I'm trying and hoping to see results- my big thing is my food and making it all work- I need to be better about recording my food choices- I did really well the first time I did that here so I am going to work on that again and see if it helps at all.

This morning I did do my circuit that my trainer has me doing and then tonight I'm heading to Zumba :) Off to take a shower and then eat some breakfast...

Tuesday

Breakfast- lean pocket and 8 oz. milk

Lunch- Chick-Fil-A Grilled Chicken Sandwich, 20 oz. diet coke, and waffle fries (someone else was buying my lunch and I didn't feel right having them pay extra for fruit)

Snack- whole wheat bagel

Dinner- Salsa Chicken (chicken, salsa, black beans, and some cheese all in the crockpot), 1 cup brown rice

I did not get all of my water in because I forgot to bring some in from the car and so it wasn't cold and I don't do ice water if I can help it.  I actually did really well today other than the water.

whew buddy

Not doing so well so far.  But, I know that if I can get myself on track I can make a difference.  I am looking forward to Friday and praying I get released to do some more exercise.  I actually WANT to go to the gym and exercise and that's a huge plus!

So it's been a while

A LONG while and I realized that I need to get my rear in gear.  I have had surgery which SHOULD make it easier to exercise once I have been cleared to do so.  I realized that while I was keeping up over here and documenting my food choices I was making much better choices then what I am making currently so, I'm going to start over on this July 1.  :)

Breakfast: 1 whole wheat bagel with cream cheese (just a thin coating), 1 banana, 16.9 oz. water

Still here

AND STRUGGLING!  I will say though- after the Biggest Loser episode the other night the one thing that I took away from it was this: Don't give up.  Even when it seems like you have fallen/failed, don't give up because you never know what might happen!

Those who watch it know I'm referring to Tara in the challenge!
